The Young Entrepreneurial Scholars
WHAT DO YOUNG ENTREPRENEURIAL SCHOLARS LEARN?
YES! high school students participating in the program learn to develop a business plan and the skills needed to start their own business.
YES! students receive valuable hands-on experience while learning how to start their own business. They receive business start-up tools, including the nationally acclaimed National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) curriculum and related business supplies.
YES! students participate in field trips to various wholesale markets, where they use start-up capital to purchase merchandise for resale in their school stores and trade shows.
YES! culminates in a business plan competition at the end of the school year at Springfield Technical Community College, where cash prizes are awarded to the individuals with the most feasible plans.
YES! is much like a basic MBA course, combining reading, writing, math and verbal skills. With these fundamentals, YES! program students relate better to others, thus strengthening their self-esteem and sense of purpose. Such qualities are essential for securing good employment and succeeding in the world of business.
YES! students who determine starting a business is not feasible will find jobs easier because they understand how entrepreneurs think and how small business operates.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURIAL SCHOLARS?
Any area high school which determines the importance of integrating entrepreneurship education into its curriculum is eligible for participation in the Young Entrepreneurial Scholars program. Over a thousand students in Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut are currently participating each year in the YES! program. The schools are noted on the back panel. If you don't see your school listed, please contact the Entrepreneurial Institute to speak with a YES! program director.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED IN YOUNG ENTREPRENEURIAL SCHOLARS
Business educators at 25 area high schools are able to participate through STCC's Entrepreneurial Institute in a week-long training seminar held at Babson College. Area entrepreneurs can participate in the YES! program through in-class presentations discussing their experiences in starting and growing their own business.
To enroll as a high school student, simply contact the Entrepreneurial Institute to speak with a YES! program director to determine the specific requirements for participation.
